Madison, Wisconsin
"While Madison has an impressive bus system for the size of the city, I have more than once waited well past when the bus was scheduled to arrive and at time found the bus packed so full that it drives past without stopping. With this project, I set out to see for myself where and when buses were full on each route. I collected the data myself from the Madison Metro Transit API every twenty seconds for weeks, stored an collated that data, and finally visualized via multiple python scripts. I uesd an open source python API, KeplerGL, to create the dynamic, interactive, animated maps. These visualizations allow for easy extraction of insights about the Madison bus system. You can easily see the daily flux of commuters in and out of the city before and at the end of the workday, as well as the rush filling the buses to capacity many days."
