Together this series shows the variety of the lived experience in different sections of the commonwealth. Each map uses a hand-drawn, Geo-referenced hill-shade as a base map. Maps are of percentage of relocated within the state with a college degree (top left), percentage of people with some college education (top right), median household income (bottom left), and median age (bottom right).

About Me
I am Alton Hipps, and these are some of the maps I’ve made!
I got into mapping and GIS in particular through my geology and environmental science work. I have always enjoyed reading maps from diner place mats to topographic maps. The connections between places, how they relate to each other, and how those connections and relationships are shown on a map has always interested me. I have been working full time as a GIS Analyst on a federal contract since 2021. Recently, I have been most focused on making interactive webmaps and dashboards to disseminate information rapidly and authoritatively.
